I'm not going to lie to you...yesterday, when I opened up my package from Beachbody and saw the tiny containers for the 21 Day Fix, my first thought was - OMG I'm gonna starve! As you can see from the photo above, they are pretty tiny. I added a standard coffee mug to show size reference so that you can see what I mean.
Not to be 100% discouraged, I tore open the book with the eating plan and skipped ahead to the chart to figure out just what the heck was going on. Needless to say, I'm a lot happier with what I read, and the portions are what you'd expect from any good eating plan.
Basically, here's the scoop. Each container represents a food group. You have vegetable, fruit, protein, starch, dairy, and fats. Each container will be used multiple times throughout the day depending on your caloric needs. And before you roll your eyes about counting calories, stop. You don't. You only need to determine the amount of calories you need to eat in a day to start this plan. That one magic number will then determine if you eat 3 servings, or 6 servings of the green container (to use one example).
It's that easy.
No more counting calories, or worrying whether or not you have the correct percentage of protein over carbs on a daily basis. The science has already been done for you. All you need to do, is mark down how many of each container you need to eat in a day, fill 'em up, and chow down.
You may be questioning the fact that I added starch in that list. The wonderful thing I have loved about all Beachbody diets, is that none of them eliminate any of the major food groups. Grains are good (if you eat the right kind). So yes, you can eat rice (brown or wild), whole-wheat products (bread, pancakes, crackers, etc). And, for those that cannot give up their chocolate, there is even a recipe for double chocolate cookies.
Faith is restored and my fears are put aside. Next up: planning my trip to the grocery store!
